The Concept of MfM
Music for Multimedia (MfM) was founded by composer Jason Vitelli as a vehicle for producing music, specifically music that expands the notions surrounding collaborative art. His educational background not only includes music composition, but also incorporates research within the computer sciences and psychobiology. Using this knowledge, he uses technology as a means to further his artistic expression and promote a more creative existence. As more artists become fluent in the use of technology (such as the internet), they will find greater ways to distribute their art and develop their ideas. In time, it allows them the ability to find one another. This ability is essential in order for them to form the fruitful relationships needed to develop their community, their business and their lives. The promotion of artists' creative, entrepreneurial and communal spirit is the main mission of MfM.
About Jason Vitelli
Jason is an artist born in the suburbs of Long Island, New York. At an early age, he had shown an unceasing enthusiasm to be creative, from recording radio shows with his brother Adam to making sound collages with scratched up LPs. As his parents started noticing his passion for music, they decided to give him piano lessons, for which he took to rather quickly. His musical education continued through his childhood piano performances and classical music studies into adulthood. Soon enough, his endeavors brought him to New York City, where he has recently completed a Masters Degree in Music Technology at NYU.
Since finishing his work at NYU, Jason has been developing compositions within the multimedia foray: writing and producing music scores for short film, silent film, and video; creating recordings of his concert music; and co-producing a documentary film soundtrack. As of right now, he is in the process of writing a rock album and continuing the research he had started in graduate school by building interactive environments for art and music. In effect, these interactive environments are psychological experiments that attempt to grasp the way people perceive artistic forms, thereby directly involving subjects within the creative process. He resides in Greenpoint, Brooklyn; where one may find him performing his songs and composing for multimedia.
